What you Bring your Attention to Grows

What do you want more of today?
What did I catch you thinking about before you read this post?
As I sat down to write, my mind was going to thoughts of:  Too many chores, not enough time.  How far behind I am already from yesterday's unfinished business.  The pain in my hamstring that shoots through me when I land my foot...Need I say more?

I'm pretty sure your thoughts are ones of lack, worry and pain...until you shine the light on them!  That's the good news.  Your awareness of your thoughts and that you have the power to direct the play that is your life is liberating.

Choose good ones today, and watch them grow.

Pain Vs. Suffering

Your thoughts can be painful.  You may be worried about your child's health today.  You may have fear around what will happen in the future.  Go ahead and feel the pain of your present thoughts.
When you find yourself dwelling on your painful thoughts, you have entered the suffering zone.  Suffering is a choice.  I encourage you to choose to release your suffering as it does not make you feel better or enhance your situation.  To do this, visualize your suffering thoughts floating away.

Be with what is.  See the good.  Shift to a better feeling thought.

Keep on Reaching for a Better Feeling Thought

Does what you are thinking about feel good?  Do you want to experience this thing that you are thinking about?
I'm guessing not.  We tend to put too much focus upon what we don't want to experience.  How do you let go of this thought?

Imagine it floating away like a balloon.  Then, reach for the next better feeling thought.  You will experience a sense of freedom and relief, and will be on the road to manifesting what you truly do want to experience.

Model Cheerfulness

What do you do when you encounter unfriendly service people?  (For example, someone in health care.)  Initially, I feel disappointed, that this person chose a career in serving others and then greets me without a trace of a smile.

Then, I am inspired, when I encounter these people, to be engaging and kind.  I move past my disappointment at the sour face, and choose to be warm.

When my children witness an encounter with an unfriendly person, I instinctively want to shield them from that person.  Knowing that they will meet and engage with all types of people, I choose to model kindness.

What do you do when you meet people who are reluctant to smile, matter of fact, and do not exhibit warmth to your children?

Stop Comparing, Start Accepting

If you are a the parent of more than one child, it seems impossible not to compare them.  One is messy, one a neat freak.  One is picky and one is open to trying new things.  One is fearful and one is adventurous.  The list is endless!

Challenge yourself to put the brakes on comparing,  and view each child as an individual.  Accept them as they are, without comparison.
The secret to getting started with this is....
to Love and Accept Yourself.
